The sense of touch is profound,
in that it plays a significant role in our understanding of ourselves, as well as a significant role in regulating anxiety. In this way, touch is a basic human need. Yet for some individuals, touch feels uncomfortable or even painful, which can get in the way of daily tasks, school work, social skills, and relationships with others.
So often when kids don’t want to do something, this is interpreted as having no motivation, and we push harder. And as parents, it can be hard when a child does not want a kiss or a hug because we tend to interpret this as rejection. It can be tiring nagging your child day after day to do their homework and easy to think they are disobedient.
As a educator it can be frustrating if you constantly ask the child to ‘sit still’, ‘stay on task’ and easy to think they are ignoring you and non-compliant.
When we understand that the resistance may be due to these things just feeling too uncomfortable to the skin, we can embark on the simple task of organising the tactile system to address the root cause of the issues.
Being a teacher/parent can be hard, when you understand that there are real reasons for the challenges for both you and your child it ‘changes the game’. You and your child are empowered with the ‘why’ of the challenges and causes of your concerns. And better yet, you are empowered with simple practical tools you can use every day to become an Everyday Neuroplastician™. That is harnessing neuroplasticity (the way the brain changes) to your advantage so life doesn’t have to be so hard for either of you.

Where can you learn these simple tools to address tactile system irregularities?
The ‘Solution for Todays Problems’ course will offer you a new perspective on neurodevelopment and brain function which is empowering, respectful, and effective. The course incorporates therapeutic HANDLE movements which have moved thousands of people worldwide from dysfunction to function.
